Established by the Constitution of the State of Tennessee, the Chancery Court has original jurisdiction over certain matters, as assigned to it by the legislature, some of them exclusively, others concurrently with the Circuit Court and the County Clerk.
In the Henry County Courthouse, Chancery Court has two offices. The Probate office is located in Suite 104 and handles filing of: Conservatorship, Guardianship, and Probate Estates.
The Henry County Chancery Court office is located in Suite 101 and handles filing for: Adoptions, Paternity/Legitimation, Surrenders, Name Changes, Partition Suits, Contract/Debt, Specific Performance, Trusts, Contempt, Minor Settlements, Foreign Judgments.
The Chancery Court(Ste. 101) also collects delinquent property taxes for the County and the cities of Paris, Henry, Puryear and Cottage Grove.
